A Little Poem I Wrote in High School

Here’s something a little different (and in a different language than usual, too). I wrote this poem for my high school English class back in 2014 and wanted to showcase it because I think it actually still holds up. As far as I remember, the entire poem just came to me in the middle of the night and I never did a second draft. It was probably the day before the assignment was due as well.

I left the poem exactly as it was except for fixing one small typo. I still know what all the words mean, but I’m not gonna tell you.

Untitled

Awoken wrecked and stranded rough
Regaining hardly life enough
Besides the home that sheltered warmly
The moon, it rises, shining calmly

Hasty steps among the bad
To where the dark triumph has had
Bearing steel forged in a hurry
Danger left and right’s no worry

Gaping black beneath the sea
A realm of death and agony
Torture, twisted perverse pleasure
Craving what is left of treasure

Approaching destined place of shame
The hords of damned are put to blame
Ablazing night and thus perceiving
The wand, at last, allows retrieving
